Join long-time knitter and sock-knitting enthusiast Emily Landry (Quiltbag) for this three part workshop that will have you falling in love with knitting socks. We will create a custom sock recipe and work on finishing a pair of socks together!
Class will meet on three Tuesday evenings, 6/25, 7/9 & 7/23
June 25: Choosing your size, casting on for two at a time socks on magic loop, cuff options, knitting the leg
July 9: Turning the heel and a discussion on determining foot length
July 23: Toe shaping and grafting live stitches to finish your socks!
Materials Needed (all materials available for purchase in the shop!):
100 grams fingering, sport or DK weight sock yarn (if you are a slower/newer knitter, I recommend using DK or even worsted weight yarn so you have an easier time getting to the next part of the sock between classes)
Corresponding/called for size of circular needles — US 1 for fingering, US 2 for sport weight or US3 for DK weight yarn. I recommend a 40” circular needle for two at a time socks using the magic loop method, but you can also use two 24” circular needles for a slightly different technique that some students find easier to manage
Darning/yarn needle
Nice to have:
split or removable stitch markers such as light bulb safety pin style markers
tape measure OR Sock Sizing Ruler
Students should know how to knit/purl, do simple decreases (k2tog, ssk) and work in the round.
$95 - Class is designed for teen and adult learners - Come knit with us!!
