Begins Mon, 11/2: Garment Knitting: Flock Vest, six sessions, 6-8pm
Join Emily Landry, Quiltbag, for this six part guided garment knitting adventure featuring the Flock Vest by Andrea Mowry!
The group will meet 6 times, every other week starting Monday, 11/2, from 6-8pm. Included in your registration is free Knit Lab attendance on Saturday mornings throughout the class series, and a copy of the pattern.
Dates: Mondays 11/2, 11/16, 11/30, 12/14, 12/28, 1/11, 6-8pm
Materials Needed:
Worsted weight yarn (All sizes and views call for 2-4 skeins for main color, 1 skein each of colors B & C) *Germantown by Kelbourne Woolens is a great option with LOTS of colors, and available to purchase at Community Craft with a 10% discount for those taking this class! Purchasing your yarn through us if you aren’t using stash yarn is greatly appreciated
24-40” circular needle in size needed to obtain gauge, and 2 sizes down (pattern recommends US 7 & US 5, we will swatch to determine correct needle size for your knitting!)
Buttons, stitch holders or additional cords, and a tapestry needle
Skills covered:
Swatching for gauge, finished fabric, fit
Switching yarn colors and managing ends
Using increases and decreases for shaping
Keeping track of stripes & shaping at the same time
Picking up and knitting on a button band
Knitting Button Holes
Attaching Buttons
Skills needed:
This pattern is appropriate for enthusiastic beginners who can knit stockinette flat (knitting and purling) and maintain a reasonably consistent gauge.
*Don’t want to knit this vest but you DO want to work on knitting another garment alongside other knitters, with support available? You can sign up for a spot and work on your own garment knitting in class!
CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:
We understand that sometimes your plans need to change. Just let us know within 48 hours (or as soon as you know!) that you won’t be able to make it, and you will receive credit to another class of your choice. Please understand, if you do not contact us, no class credit will be given so that class instructors will still be paid for your enrollment.
