Tuesdays 10/27, 11/10 & 11/24 Knit Socks 2-at-a-time! 6-8:30pm

$110.00

Join long-time knitter and sock-knitting enthusiast Emily Landry (Quiltbag) for this three part workshop that will have you falling in love with knitting socks. We will break down all the parts of knitting a sock and work on finishing a pair of socks together!

For knitters who don’t have a ton of knitting time, and want to get through a whole sock during the class series, I recommend using DK weight yarn (or sock yarn held double) and potentially knitting socks one at a time!

Class will meet on three Tuesday evenings, 6-8:30pm, every other week to allow time to work on your socks as you go.

10/27: Taking measurements, casting on, knitting on long circular needles, toe shaping`

11/10: Options for the heel turn! and knitting the leg

11/24: Cuffs and binding off

Materials Needed*:

100 grams fingering weight sock yarn OR 100 grams DK weight yarn. I recommend looking for wool with some nylon (10% or more) for socks that will wear better over time!

One US 1 (or US 3 if using DK/holding yarn double) circular needle, 36” or longer

Nice to have:

Darning/yarn needle

split or removable stitch markers

tape measure or sock ruler

Students should know how to knit/purl, do simple increases and decreases (kfb, k2tog, ssk) and work in the round. If you have knit a hat/beanie before, you should be good to go!

$110 - Class is designed for teen and adult learners. Beginners who want to learn to knit socks are very welcome. Come knit with us!!

*We have new and secondhand yarn, needles, and notions at Community Craft. Please consider purchasing your materials in the shop — your support keeps our doors open!

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:

We understand that sometimes your plans need to change. Just let us know within 48 hours (or as soon as you know!) that you won’t be able to make it, and you will receive credit to another class of your choice. Please understand, if you do not contact us, no class credit will be given so that class instructors will still be paid for your enrollment. If a class does not meet minimum enrollment, you will have the opportunity to transfer your enrollment for credit in another class.
