Join long-time knitter and sock-knitting enthusiast Emily Landry (Quiltbag) for this three part workshop that will have you falling in love with knitting socks. We will create a custom sock recipe and work on finishing a pair of socks together!
Class will meet on three Thursday evenings at 6-8:30pm, every other week to allow time to work on your socks as you go.
September 9: Taking measurements, casting on, knitting on long circular needles, toe shaping`
September 24: Options for the heel turn! and knitting the leg
October 8: Cuffs and binding off
Materials Needed (all materials available for purchase in the shop!):
100 grams fingering weight sock yarn. I recommend looking for wool with some nylon (10% or more) for socks that will wear better over time!
One US 1 or US 1.5 circular needle, 36” or longer
OR
Two US 1 or US 1.5 circular needles, 16” or longer
Nice to have:
Darning/yarn needle
split or removable stitch markers
tape measure or sock ruler
Students should know how to knit/purl, do simple increases and decreases (kfb, k2tog, ssk) and work in the round. If you have knit a hat/beanie before, you should be good to go!
$110 - Class is designed for teen and adult learners. Beginners who want to learn to knit socks are very welcome. Come knit with us!!
CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:
We understand that sometimes your plans need to change. Just let us know within 48 hours (or as soon as you know!) that you won’t be able to make it, and you will receive credit to another class of your choice. Please understand, if you do not contact us, no class credit will be given so that class instructors will still be paid for your enrollment. If a class does not meet minimum enrollment, you will have the opportunity to transfer your enrollment for credit in another class.
