Saturday 10/3 Hand Sewing: Chicken Scratch Embroidery 10am-12pm

$45.00

Try chicken scratch embroidery with Elizabeth Martin!

We’ll use gingham fabric, embroidery floss, a needle, and an hoop as we practice this vintage style of stitching.

In this beginner friendly class we’ll use a few core stitches and the grid of the gingham to make some little samplers that could be finished into quilt squares, book marks, coasters, or patches. You get to decide what to create with them!

I’ve travelled the world… Ok, I took an airplane west, to find some really beautiful gingham, and kind of a fat 16th size comes with your class, & yes- You may choose your color! If you have 1/4” gingham you’d like to use, bring it along. I’ll also have a needle for you, because needles are my favorite technology, & it brings me joy to give them to people ;)  (And Mary loves to tell you all about the life changing difference of good needles & pins!)

You might also bring your own embroidery floss for personal color choices, maybe a thimble, & favorite small embroidery hoop- you’ll need these things. Community Craft has embroidery floss, snips, thimbles & hoops for purchase. This project needs at least 2 colors of embroidery floss- I don’t recommend using sashiko thread or perle cotton.

$45 includes your gingham fabric, needle & floss!
