Tuesdays 5/26 - 6/30 Intro to Quilting: Modern Mini - Six weeks, Tuesdays 6-9pm
This friendly small group class is a complete introduction to quilting, from cutting to binding! Mary loves to make learning to quilt as fun & stress free as possible, as she walks you through every step, and holds your hand as you learn all the foundational skills.
This fun patchwork sampler covers all the basic steps of quilting. It includes the most common units of patchwork quilt blocks: half square triangles (HST), flying geese, half rectangle triangles (HRT), and curves, along with sashing, borders, basting, quilting, and binding. All of this skill building goodness in a small-scale size to make it easily doable. You’ll be a quilter before you know it!
“This mini format makes learning the basics of quilting mind-blowingly achievable!”
- Ashley Daly
6 evening classes: Tuesdays 6-9pm, 5/26 - 6/30. If you can’t make all the dates, make up classes are available on most Saturday afternoons during Studio Hours.
Fees: $285 for 6 classes. Materials purchased separately, and are available at the shop - totally fine to wait until the first night of class
To be comfortable in this class, we recommend sewing machine experience comparable to our Beginner Sewing: Learn the Machine class.
You will see the complete list of materials below, but please note that WE HAVE ALL THE TOOLS FOR YOU TO USE! The only things you really need are the fabric, thread, and your sewing machine. You are welcome to bring starch and any other tools you have if you like, but you don’t have to! And, you don’t need to bring your machine to the first class, because we spend the evening starching, cutting, and going over some basic quilt anatomy.
Materials:
Owl & Drum has a stellar selection of fabric prints and solids in the shop!
*Fabric: 4 Fat Quarters (FQS) - one for each block color, 3/4 yard background fabric (off white in photos, we recommend a solid color), 2/3 yard backing fabric (backside), 1/4 yard binding. These amounts include plenty of extra for practice/redos/mistakes.
